Returning to work after maternity leave...
My first day back after mat leave was…terrifying, uncomfortable, worthwhile and affirming.
It's fair to say that as a business owner maternity leave wasn’t exactly what I anticipated. My baby came nearly two months early, so I was literally working on the hospital bed, frantically trying to tie things up as she had her very first naps in the world.

Wanting it all.
On the eve of my “official” first week back from maternity leave, my brain is fizzing. It’s like popping candy up there. One moment there’s excitement about the freedom from little ones demanding every ounce of my attention; to pangs of sadness, guilt and regret about what I might miss; to the buzzing of ideas surrounding where we will take the agency next. Then those looming nerves and niggles of self-doubt with questions looping in my head - Am I still good at my job? Do the team even need me? Is my brain ever going to be the same again after a battleground of sleepless nights for 365+ days straight??

I took this as a sign and moved to London in 2020, in the thick of the pandemic, to pursue my Master's degree. A year later, I found myself hunting for a PR job again, but in the unchartered waters of the UK.
