Twitter tests bitmojis on users’ profiles - Bitmojis were first seen on SnapChat, as their answer to a profile picture. And bitmojis have slowly filtered into Instagram, and now Twitter wants in too. They are testing a direct link between SnapChat and Twitter, where your bitmoji made over on the photo sharing app, can be used as your profile image on Twitter. Will this be something you’ll be taking part in?
TikTok’s Follow Me education series - TikTok is all about giving a platform for small businesses and creators and now they’re taking it one step further. The app is launching a new initiative called ‘Follow Me’ to help small businesses learn how to maximise their success on the platform. This is a six week program designed to strengthen your marketing skills and make the most of the platform. Will you be taking notes?
Twitter give users ability 'Unmention' Themselves - Ever accidentally gone viral and now your mentions are blowing up? Got caught in the middle of a pile-on and want out? Have no fear, the unmention option is here! Detach from any such engagement and move on is the matra behind this new feature.
IG opens reels API access to third party platforms - As the digital team knows all too well, scheduling posts for social platforms comes with its problems, mainly with videos and reels. But now, Instagram has opened up access to third parties such as Sprout Social and HootSuite. So get those reels going, we’ve got vids to schedule!
TikTok are looking at age restrictions for livestream viewers - TikTok is testing a feature where creators who livestream have the option to put an age limit on who can view their lives, which would be 18 years+. This isn’t so adult content can be shared, but rather so that the younger audience on the app doesn’t come across content that is tailored to an older audience. Smart? We think so!
Meta’s Small Business Studios - An initiative aimed at small businesses, ‘Small Business Studios’ provides training, creative inspiration and workshops including how to build your brand and how to reach your audience with personalised ads. Instagram Adds New Business Search Tools Within IG Maps - Another blow for Google as social media is increasingly becoming the search engine of choice for the youth of today? The new Map Search option will enable users to explore popular tagged locations around them, as well as filtering by categories such as restaurants, cafes and salons - it just got easier to instagram your lunch!
We brought it home! - The Lionesses did what the Lions couldn’t! The England ladies brought home the 2022 Euros title, and everyone is buzzing. With 23.3 million watchers in the UK alone, it’s safe to say that women’s football has reached a new high following the tournament. There’s still a long way to go for equality between male and female sports, but baby steps people, baby steps!
