Bringing you the freshest insights, app developments, and trends sweeping social media platforms across the country, so you can level up your strategy and ensure you’re always ahead of the curve.
This month, we talk TikTok leaning into the gaming industry, BeReal’s performance, plus we revisit some of the worst Met Gala looks for some much needed giggles. It’s been a busy month, so dive right in…
Half those hashtags! - We’re all guilty of adding a few too many hashtags to our IG posts. BUT, before you max out all 30, listen up as we’ve found out some shocking info. Recent research shows that the number of hashtags a post has does not affect distribution. So, use relevant hashtags by all means, but there’s no need to go crazy! Less is more.
TikTok’s gaming insights - Do you know how big gaming is? Well, TikTok does, and the social media giant has shared an overview of how its platform links to gaming culture, and the opportunities to promote gaming projects on the app. Have a read of the article and TikTok’s insights to see exactly how you could use gaming to promote your brand online to the masses.
Instagram’s new NFT testing - After months of speculation, Instagram has finally started testing sharing NFTs into the platform. This means that, if testing goes well, people with NFTs will be able to display them on their profiles. There will be no fees associated with sharing them on Instagram, and there is also the opportunity to start selling your NFTs to your followers. What do you think - fun update, or just another way for Meta to make money?
Passwordless sign-ins? - Passwordless authentication processes might be coming to your apps soon. Tech giants Apple, Microsoft and Google have joined forces to explore passwordless sign-ins across all major device platforms.
Meta shares new ‘Culture Codes’ - It’s no secret that in the past couple of years, especially since TikTok blew up, that content consumers have started leaning towards more ‘real’ content, instead of edited product pushes. To help brands keep up with this demand, Meta have released six ‘Culture Codes’, including telling real stories from real people. Have a read through to see what the other codes are, and how you might be able to use them in your next updates.
Twitter Create - Social media creators are highly valuable assets of the digital world and social platforms are doing everything they can boost their appeal to creators (and bring in that £££). Twitter has launched ‘Twitter Create’, a mini-site that includes specific sections for creators to guide them on how to maximise their presence on the app. Take a look at the mini site here, and let us know what your thoughts are.
BeReal’s responses - If you cast your mind to a couple of months ago, we introduced you all to BeReal, the app made for unedited images of your true, day-to-day life. It’s great for connecting with friends you don’t see or talk to often, and is definitely a much needed break from the filters of Instagram. Have a read of this article and let us know if you think it will catch on, and make it to IG status.
Netflix cuts 150 jobs - Twitter isn’t the only one cutting down on staff. We’re sure most Netflix users have heard by now that the streaming service lost 200,000 subscribers in the first three months of 2022. Have people had enough? Granted, it makes no sense to have seasons 4-6 uploaded on Netflix with a complete disregard for seasons 1-3 (IWe’re just trying to watch Lucifer, come on guys!), but who knew this could lead to cuts of 150 staff members?
Met Gala outfits, hit or miss? - So the annual Met Gala came around again and with it, everyone’s outfit opinions. So let’s get into it! Check out the hottest looks from the event and let us know what your fav outfit is. We just have one question… Kylie, girl. What the hell happened?
