This month, TikTok continues to grow, people favour authenticity as BeReal’s popularity continues to grow and Elon Musk makes it rain. Keep reading for the top stories of the month…
Interactive Twitter ads - Twitter ads have never been at the forefront of our social strategies (well the platform at all for that matter!) but change is a-coming; introducing interactive ads. These include embedded links, 3D images of products and multiple products in one ad. Have a read for the full deets and let us know if you’ll be looking into these for your Twitter account.
Facebook’s inaccurate targeting - We all know how Facebook’s interests targeting works right? Well, if not, it’s time to find out and learn how inaccurate it can really be. Around 30% of Facebook’s inferred interests are irrelevant, which could have significant implications for ad spend and making it near impossible to distinguish between positive and negative interactions.
TikTok’s interactive add ons - Speaking of engagements, have you seen TikTok’s new way of encouraging users to engage with ads? Interactive add-ons for your videos prompts viewers to interact e.g taking part in a poll (as if we needed more reasons to engage…). Have a look at what the rest of the platform's plans are.
No more recent hashtags? - Instagram has decided to launch a small test which will see the ‘Recent’ tab removed from hashtag search results in favour of more recent posts and Reels being displayed in the main display.. The most recent information on a hashtag is usually what people are searching for, so we’re not sure this will go down too well. What are your thoughts?
BeReal is gaining momentum - There’s a new social app in town and downloads are up a whopping 315%. Momentum is increasing with 7.41 million downloads to date, which highlights the desire for more honest, raw depictions of people’s real life experiences, and move away from airbrushed, edited photos that have become the norm. ‘Camera ready’ will be no more…
Twitter’s new owner - Unless you’ve been living under a rock the last few weeks, you’ll surely know by now that Twitter has been bought by none other than Elon Musk. This deal between Musk and Twitter is worth $44 billion - yes, you heard us right! Elon has plans to change up Twitter to ‘enhance the platform to its fullest potential’.
Gen See Beauty vegan brand - The talk around sustainability is growing by the second and Gen See Beauty is the new vegan beauty brand on the scene. Giving us all things eyes and lips, we’re super excited to see where this goes. Have a look at their store here and let us know what you’ll be adding to your basket. Cards at the ready!
TikTok’s effect house - First there was Hype House. Now, TikTok’s Effect House. An AR creation tool that allows AR creators to build their own effects for the platform, the same way users can create their own filters on Instagram. Open only to a selected few, access will be given to all TikTok users to get creating.
ASL alphabet lens on Snapchat - In another move for greater accessibility, Snapchat is looking to help increase awareness and usage of sign language, with a new Lens that’s able to recognise American Sign Language gestures and translate them in the app. Now this is social for good!
