Welcome to Full Fat’s brand new monthly digital bulletin!

Bringing you the freshest insights, app developments, and trends sweeping social media platforms across the country, so you can level up your strategy and ensure you’re always ahead of the curve.

Keep scrolling for a recap of the latest digital goss from February, and let us know what was your favourite story?

  1. Snapchat’s mid-roll ads - In an effort to test monetisation and allow their creators to earn more money (because there’s always more to be made, right?), Snapchat will enable creators to insert mid-roll ads into their stories. Will we ever be able to enjoy a video from start to finish without an ad spamming our feed?

2. YouTube launches NFTs - YouTube has announced that they too will be dabbling in NFTs, by allowing fans to ‘own’ creators’ videos. The video based platform hopes this will open up new opportunities for creators, and allow them to build deeper relationships with their fans, whilst creating another opportunity to make revenue. Have you jumped on the craze?

3. Facebook reels are here - It was only a matter of time. In yet another effort from Meta to push short form videos, reels have now been made available to all Facebook users. Have a read through to keep up to date with Meta and TikTok’s ever growing battle for the top spot.

  1. Can I see some ID please? - Twitter and Reddit users may have to submit passport details as part of the government’s age verification rules for pornography. Seeing as neither site has substantial age checks to access adult material, children are being exposed to things that they should not be. We’re just surprised it took this long…

2. Story likes will make engagements soar - Forever adding more ways to measure engagements, Instagram are now allowing users to like creators’ stories in the same way they would a grid post. These metrics will only be available for the creator to see, and it has not been stated yet whether this will be a ranking factor…though we’re 99% sure it will!

3. Instagram’s attempt to improve discovery - Ah, live streams. They took the internet by storm, and now every Tom, Dick and Harry has either hosted or attended one. To maintain their popularity, Instagram has added a feature for creators, which allows them to schedule their live streams and display this schedule on their profile. Yet another diary reminder in a world full of digital organisation - will you be tapping into more live streams?

  1. Trump’s ‘Truth Social’ - Our friends across the pond have just gotten access to the all new social media app, Truth Social, created by none other than former president Donald Trump. Created to operate much like Twitter, this app is, apparently, free from political discrimination, so that you can engage in ‘civil’ conversations about ‘The Truth’. Yikes.

  2. Adidas’ new ad campaign sparks controversy - In a daring move from the sportswear giant, their latest ad features 25 pairs of bare breasts to market their new sports bra range. Some are scarred, others small and saggy in a bid to drive inclusivity and get people talking. So here for this.

3. Pinterest AR furniture tool - Pinterest has just made it 10 times easier to figure out which chair will look good in your room by adding an AR furniture placement tool. Take a look, and start visualising your new room before your next IKEA haul.
