Full Fat's March digital bulletin

Bringing you the freshest insights, app developments, and trends sweeping social media platforms across the country, so you can level up your strategy and ensure you’re always ahead of the curve.

This week, Zoom starts streaming, Instagram is changing it’s display format to be more like a certain social media we know, and Will Smith takes over Oscar reports. For all the hot goss, just keep scrolling…

  1. LinkedIn’s newsletters for companies - LinkedIn has announced that company pages on the Instagram creator subscriptions - Back in January, Instagram announced a new subscriptions feature, which is now being rolled out across the USA. This will allow creators to charge users to see specific content. It will work as a monthly subscription, with price points starting at £0.99 and going all the way up to £99.99! Would you subscribe to anyone on the gram? We’re sharing our content from as little as £1.50 if anyone’s keen to help an agency out… ;)

  2. Twitter’s new profile shop - Off the back of Covid-19, e-shopping has never been more popular and is quickly becoming the new normal (RIP Topshop/Topman - gone but never forgotten). Social media platforms are getting involved to ensure they’re not missing a trick, with Twitter recently trialling new profile shops on the platform to display products in-app. Check out the article to see where online shopping is going next and get those credit cards at the ready…

  3. New Twitter awards option - We have yet another montetisation method that Twitter has added to the platform. The new ‘Twitter Awards’ work similarly to Facebook’s virtual gifts. Users can gift content creators real money, adding another income stream for both big and small contributors across the board. With the cost of living rising rapidly, perhaps we should all jump on the creator bandwagon? Check out the full article for all the deets.

  1. The Great Reshuffle - The pandemic affected a lot of what we know, and we’re still feeling the aftermath. One thing that changed was the way that we work. And we’re not just talking about working from home (although wasn't working in pjs a welcome change?). We’re talking about the new focus on work-life balance. Companies that don’t prioritise flexible working and keeping the balance might get left behind. Take a look at LinkedIn’s report on this, and let us know what you think.

  2. TikTok’s agency centre - In an attempt to help creators churn out more content, TikTok launched yet another new feature. Creators now have the option to activate the ‘Agency Centre’ feature, which puts them in touch with talent agencies who can provide them with inspiration and advice. Is this a new calling for Full Fat? Or maybe even a side hustle for all you aspiring business owners!

  3. Twitter’s new podcast tab - In an attempt to increase discovery and engagement, Twitter is adding a new tab that will focus on podcasts. This suggests that users will be able to create and share links to their latest episodes directly from the app. What podcasts are you loving this month?

  1. David Beckham does his bit - Wanting to highlight the amazing work of doctors on the frontline in Ukraine, Beckham handed his Instagram over to Iryna, a Ukrainian child anaesthesiologist earlier this month. Showcasing the realities of the conflict, Iryna has posted videos of pregnant women in basements and shared her own story about her son being born during the conflict. Read the full article and see what amazing work Iryna and many others are taking part in. This is how you use your influence!

  2. Training our tech - Ever fallen asleep with the light on? Well, Google has a solution! Using radar sensors instead of cameras, Google’s new computer can read your body language and make decisions accordingly. So next you doze off in front of the TV, Google’s got your back.

  3. Amazon’s TikTok shop - We’d be lying if we said that TikTok hasn’t influenced a purchase or two, and as usual, Amazon knows how to hop on the bandwagon. With Amazon’s TikTok shop open, and loaded with deals on popular beauty products, there is no underestimating the influence of TikTok stars. What will you be adding to your basket?
